Case Study No.5 – Growing speaker businesses

Intro: 

Completing and managing this project for clients has been a great pleasure of mine. Each client has their individual needs and requires a personal touch so that their Speaking business can thrive! Here I will go into the process I used, the research I’ve conducted, what I helped them with and how it benefited and created real value.

 

The clients: 

Due to the nature of this case study, I will cover an amalgamation of clients all of whom are successful speakers in different fields – from leadership, storytelling, education and emotional intelligence.

 

What I help with: 

 

– The research 

With any project, the due diligence one puts into the research massively effects the outcome. This is where I conduct in-depth research into the client and look into speakers relevant for them, finding all testimonials and then all companies/ associations they have spoken at.

The main benefit I have from doing this numerous times is not only a seamless process but by knowing exactly what to look for on each website/ LinkedIn profile my clients won’t miss out any opportunities.

This coupled with having a pre-vetted speaking list of 500+ and growing means I can effectively target exactly what my clients are looking for and provide high opportune leads for them to go after.

 

– Finding contact details

Manually, this could be the longest part. Without experience and knowledge into this area, you could days or weeks finding contacts to go after.

Thankfully with the power of Sales Navigator and email extraction tools such as Apollo, Snov, Skrapp or Hunter, this is made easy.

In each case I let the client know exactly how many testimonials leads they have and how many they have in each region. They can then choose how they would like to split the leads up/ what regions/ countries/ companies to target and if there are any preferences.

Once complete I create a master excel that the client will have access to if they so wish to send out any personalised emails themselves.

 

– The personalised messages 

Creating a well-executed message can take a lot of time. Thankfully I’ve done this not only for myself but for essentially all of my clients. I understand the type of language needed to get across to my clients and make sure they are tailored to each individual to suit their specific area of expertise.

I have the added benefit that not only can I personalise these messages by researching into the clients’ website, watching their videos/ reading content but also as I’ve done this countless times before I am well versed in what my clients’ prospects want to hear/ read.

From this, I create 5 highly bespoke messages for the client to reach out on using any system they prefer. The client can review these and suggest edits based upon preference.

 

– The AfterCare 

Want to leave everything in my hands and just do the speaking? That’s exactly how my clients feel. Your time is precious!

I specifically created this for clients which high workloads. Many of my current clients have multiple jobs, a family and quite a large amount of responsibilities they need to take care of.

So here I have developed three plans depending on my clients’ requirements. What I absolutely love about these is I can further tailor them down to each individual to make sure they are getting a bespoke service. This can include: Feeding/ updating the automated emails

– Feeding/ updating the automated emails

– Replying to enquiries

– Recommendations

– Updates on successful strategies

– After event follow up procedures

– Testimonials

– Personal thank you notes

– Sending out e-business cards

 

In the end, I want this process to be as smooth and as easy as possible – so the client can focus purely on doing the best possible talks at any event they get booked for and leave the background work to me.

 

How what I do helps them: 

 

– Time 

My clients time is precious, and by doing this for them it gives breathing space so they can focus on what truly matters. Such as researching for a talk, creating content, filming personalised videos and most of doing what they want to most! Speaking at events!

 

– Repeated work 

From completing this project numerous times I know the in’s and outs of making sure nothing is missed. I can focus on purely giving you the tailored leads and prospects to go after and even offer a strategy to go with them! As I learn more about the client I can even begin to make higher-level recommendations that would boost their business!

 

– Personal interest 

I absolutely love seeing clients get some success out of the work I do for them. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to see what strategies work, implement changes and adapt to what each client needs. Ofcourse there are similarities, but each client has their own pace, own style and more importantly their individual talk which makes them stand out. This is where the real fun happens – by leveraging my knowledge on the industry I can create a truly bespoke package which I can fully get behind and be exited by!

 

– Nature of the role 

Being in this position allows me to have a significant amount of knowledge for me to use from one client to another. I can often find best practices, suggest angles one hasn’t thoughts of thus allowing me more time to review my work and make sure it is in line with the client’s expectations.

Further to this, as I come from an account management background, I’m well practised in keeping track of multiple clients and aligning to all their needs. So when it comes to AfterCare I’m fully confident in supporting everyone 100%.

 

– Due to my analytic background 

In my previous role, I was often referred to as a data scientist due to my way of analysing results and interpreting them differently. This allows me to apply my own opinion to the findings which the clients can review, thus saving them time and also providing an alternate perspective to use with their speaking business.
