Intro
During this case study, I will outline the Techie work I do for clients that I really enjoy. A lot of this I do regularly for my own business, however, my clients more often than not, do not have the time nor need to learn these skills as they have higher value priorities to tackle. Therefore they outsource these tasks to me as a cost-effective way of getting a job done.
The clients
Here I will discuss the work I have done for 3 clients who will, of course, stay anonymous.
Founder – International reach
– G- suit
Ever think you never have enough hours in the day? That was exactly what this client thought before I synchronised all emails, calendars and cloud storage onto the G suit. The majority of the work was needed at the beginning, so we decided after the initial consultation to start on an hourly basis to get everything up to scratch and, once all was in order, move onto a retainer package.
In this instance, the client had 3 emails and calendars (1 personal & 2 business) along with 2 cloud storage solutions – OneDrive and Google Drive. She was in this case already paying for the full G suit, so I recommended right off the bat moving everything onto the platform so she only had to log into one place. Thankfully, because I have done this for myself and other clients/colleagues, I knew right away to set up the correct filters and tags so that once everything started importing it would file into the right place.
The OneDrive was a bit more tedious as Microsoft likes to have it automatically running in the background, and if you use the free version (which in this case she was) you have limited memory, leaving her with an ineffective half backup. Thankfully I managed to create a simple step by step on how to get my client to turn this off and change it to the G Drive instead which had 1 terabyte.
Now when my client logs in, all emails are quickly sorted so she can prioritise what to focus on and set out certain times of the day/ week for specific folders. The calendar is all in one and fully colour coded. And all her files are in one place which can be accessed from anywhere. Safe to say this is one very happy client!
Consultant – Local reach
– WordPress SEO / Yoast

This was a consultant who had been set up for a while but their website wasn’t appearing in Google when searched for. I highlighted this to the client and let them know I can implement some easy steps so that they could organically start showing up and potentially gain more clients. These were, set up Yoast SEO, get on Google search console and Google business and lastly get W3 Total Cache and Smush Image set up.
Note: to use plugins on your WordPress website you do need to upgrade to a business level.
Yoast SEO is super easy to use and does all the meta descriptions, schema implementation, and XML sitemaps. It also provides really easy to read analysis and quickly see what a page/ post will look like on search results. Because it’s so widely used there are loads of ‘how to’ content out there, this meant even if I had to do something new (which is always fun!) I was able to find out quickly.
Google Search Console & Google Business
Google Search console you need to have, as it will make sure google is picking up your website. It’s unlikely to appear without it. You can also submit your sitemap (100+ pages), check speed/ loading times, confirm it’s mobile-friendly and check your pages are user friendly such as making sure your text is easy to read.
Top tip: You can manage multiple websites from one google search console login so it’s easy to keep track of everything. They will also email you if anything goes wrong or your website goes down.
You know it’s funny how many businesses still have G+ on their website even though it was discontinued well over a year ago! As far I can tell it’s moved over to Google Business and works similarly. This is also very easy to set up, and incredibly important as pretty much guarantees local search will be in your favour.
Bonus: If you put the keyword of your product/ service/ offering in the title you will appear in the Gmap results.
W3 Total Cache and Smush Image
Both free and super easy to install and highly recommended. Smush image optimises your images and improves your Google page load speed whilst keeping the image quality.
W3 Total Cache improves overall website performance by taking advantage of cache and decreases the amount of bandwidth needed for your website to load.
This means if someone is loading your website on their phone with a poor internet connection it is more likely to load up, and let’s be honest this is highly likely to happen at some point. Who’s to say they will remember to look at your website again when they are in front of a computer?
This was a very interesting project to do for my client as I learnt a few things on the way and even improved my website. Now their website appears in Google and since then I’ve been told a few more inbound leads have been coming in! And for me, it created a retaining client who I provide a weekly report with the Yoast SEO on the metrics they are interested in. Overall Win-Win situation for all involved.
CXO – International reach
– Webinars & Google Analytics

Here the client wanted to have Google Analytics set up so she could see the audience her website was bringing in and then target them with specific tailored emails which she already had set up via her newsletter letter platform which had a lead magnet attached to it.
Note: For audience targeting, you need to have Google ads set up.
The initial set up was relatively easy as I’ve done it for my website. What did require a bit more of my own time was learning how to create a report from the data and send it over in a digestible manner for my client. I also took the time to learn about Google Surveys and Optimize platforms as I took a personal interest in my business plans and let the client know in case they wanted to take advantage of them.
Setting up webinars is an ongoing service I provide, this normally requires getting access to their system (Zoom, Goto meeting, Whereby, Skype etc) and then sending out invites on their behalf based on their brief. Though this may not take long for one to do themself, often when you’re very busy you may right down you need to send 10+ invites to different people which you may send them out late or worse forget. Here my client puts them all in an email with times, and I quickly send out all invites.
How what I do has helped them:
The main benefit here is time. More often than not clients do not have the time nor need to spend it completing certain tasks. It is often far more valuable to hire someone else who can do it for you so you can invest your time focusing on the £100-£1000+ tasks and bring in more clients, money, or just spend valuable time with their families. I asked one client how much did they value the time they spent with their kids, they, of course, said it was invaluable. I think you can guess how the rest of the conversation went.
As you can see I have a variety of skills at my fingertips and am very adept at learning new areas for my clients needs to best support them at any moment. In my eyes what I learn now will better support me in the future when perhaps I need my own VA 😉
I’m always interested to hear about ways I can help another business. If you would like to get in touch please contact me at oliver@olivera28.sg-host.com
P.S My clients always remain confidential in my case studies as they are not always comfortable letting their clients know they need a little help.
