Best Books to Boost your Business

We’re 4 months into 2022 and perhaps things with your business aren’t going the way you’d hoped for. Whether you haven’t met your monthly targets, or you’ve lost a client, your engagement is down. Whatever it is, you need to make a change.

As a virtual assistant, I am constantly in communication with my clients about their targets, what they want to achieve and how my help can get them closer to their goals. My skills as a virtual assistant have developed through both experience and reading a handful of exceptional books that I want to share with you in the hope they’ll give you and your business the boost you need!

The High Five Habit by Mel Robbins

  • Mel Robbins criminal defense attorney and entrepreneur, with over 28 million views on her TED Talk, Robbins is a writer whose work cuts through the noise and helps you make the changes you need to make instantly.
  • The High Five habit is a self-help book aimed at helping you feel motivated and productive no matter what, and all it takes is one simple rule.
  • My favourite chapter is where Mel Robbins dissects and resolves the feeling of jealousy and envy we feel towards our peers, friends, or even those we don’t know via social media channels.

The Lean Startup by Eric Ries

  • Named entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School and current IDEO Fellow, Ries has been advising start-up businesses and honing his craft and expertise since the beginning of days.
  • This book delivers a scientific approach to managing and creating successful startups by using ‘validated learning’, experimentation, and practices that may seem counterintuitive but decrease the number of production cycles.
  • Ries beautifully divides the book into 3 steps under the 5 core principles of The Lean Startups, making the book easy to follow and refer back to when the work begins.

Atomic Habits by James Clear

  • James Clear is an author, entrepreneur, and regular speaker at Fortune 500 companies. NFL, NBA, and MLB Teams across the states and beyond use his work.
  • The book helps you learn new habits even amidst your chaotic schedule, overcome your lack of motivation, and create a space to make success an easier possibility.
  • Perhaps Clear’s most well-known quote is ‘’if you’re having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn’t you. The problem is your system.’’ This perfectly depicts the refreshing way of thinking James Clear has on habit making and improving one’s lifestyle.

Self Made Bianca Miller-Cole and Byron Cole

  • Bianca Miller-Cole, The Apprentice finalist, workshop facilitator, and speaker has written this powerhouse of a book alongside entrepreneur and investor Bryan Cole.
  • This book is an entrepreneurs ‘go-to guide’ featuring interviews with successful entrepreneurs in all areas of the start-up industry.
  • What I love the most is the straight-talking step-by-step guide for anyone wanting to turn an idea into a business from the ground up.

So there we have it, 4 books that have aided me to continue to grow and strengthen to be the best Virtual Assistant for my awesome clients.
